Overview

In the year 2075, mankind has reached a point where journeying between Earth, the moon and the space stations is part of daily life. Synopsis 日本語

時代は2070年代（2075年以降）。人類は宇宙開発を進め、月面でのヘリウム3の採掘など、資源開発が商業規模で行われている。火星には実験居住施設もあり、木星・土星への有人探査計画も進んでいる。毎日、地上と宇宙とを結ぶ高々度旅客機は軌道上と宇宙とを往復し、宇宙ステーションや月面には多くの人たちが生活し、様々な仕事をしている。しかし、長い宇宙開発の歴史の影で生まれたスペースデブリ（宇宙空間のゴミ。廃棄された人工衛星や、ロケットの残骸など）は軌道上にあふれ、実際にたびたび旅客機と衝突事故を起こすなど、社会問題となっていた。また、地上の貧困・紛争問題は未解決のままで、宇宙開発の恩恵は、先進各国の独占状態にある。このため貧困による僻みや思想的な理由付けによるテロの問題も未解決である。主人公のハチマキは宇宙で働くサラリーマン。主な仕事は宇宙のゴミ「デブリ」の回収作業。いつか自分個人の宇宙船を所有することを夢みている。ゴミ拾いは大事な仕事だと自分を納得させつつ、当初の夢と現実の狭間でこのまま現実を受け入れるか、それとも夢を追い求めるか思い悩む。
