Overview

時は2071年。宇宙開拓時代を迎えた人類は太陽系内に生活圏を広げており、悪化する治安への対策として、指名手配犯を捕まえる賞金稼ぎ、いわゆる「カウボーイ」たちが活躍している。カウボーイ稼業を営むスパイク・スピーゲルと相棒のジェット・ブラックは、古い漁船を改造したオンボロ宇宙船「ビバップ号」に乗り込んで宇宙を駆け巡っている。大物の賞金首を捕まえることもある一方、その荒っぽいやり方に巻き込んだ一般市民からの損害賠償請求も多い彼らに金銭的余裕はない。そんなビパップ号に奔放な美女フェイ・ヴァレンタイン、天才ハッカーのエド、犬のアインが転がり込む。おのおの何かしらの事情を抱えながらも、一同はビパップ号で緩やかな絆を育み、行く先々で様々な騒動に巻き込まれる。
