カリトントウ星のフックランド王国の王家の血を引くボタンノーズは、いちご研究所で暮らす8歳の少女。ある日彼女は、成りゆきでカリトントウ星を訪れた際に叔父で国王のファスナー公爵に王位を継承させられる。こうしてフックランド王国の国王となったボタンノーズは、フックランドで愉快な日々を送ることになる。
