Overview

The special revolves around a talking dog named Don Matsugorou and his family. Mr. Matsuzawa is a novelist who lives in Chiba Prefecture. Only his daughter Kazuko knows that the family dog, Don Matsugorou, can talk. Don is wounded in a fight with the neighbors' dog, King, a nouveau-riche mongrel with ideas above his station. In addition to this, Don Matsugorou must save Chotaro, a fellow dog who gets kidnapped, and might even find love in another dog, Ogin, along the way.

Synopsis 日本語

犬と猫との世界とそこを巡って起きる騒動を、人間の言葉を理解できる犬・ドン松五郎を中心にして描く。ペット権をめぐって猫の一家と争う。飼い主ととともにストリップ劇場に行きプードルのお銀と親しくなるが、お銀の飼い主のストリッパーが逮捕されてしまう。断耳断尾手術をされそうになっていたブルテリアの長太郎を助ける。二匹をかくまってる先の家のドラ息子がお銀と長太郎をさらって売り飛ばしてしまう。二匹の行方を探し出すためにドン松五郎は人間と会話できる犬として、テレビ出演を果たした。ドン松五郎のモデルは、原作者・井上ひさしが飼っていた雄の柴犬「鈍兵衛」である。
