カエルのピョン吉が公園（東京都練馬区の石神井公園がモデル）にほど近い原っぱにいたところに、地元の中学生・ひろしが小石につまずき倒れ込んで来て潰されてしまうが、なぜかピョン吉はひろしのシャツに張り付き、「平面ガエル」として生きていくことになる。 東京の下町を舞台に、ひろしのガールフレンドの京子、後輩の五郎、番長のゴリライモ、教師生活25年の町田先生、美人教師のヨシ子先生、寿司屋の職人・梅さんや、その恋のライバル・南先生ら、多彩な登場人物を巻き込んでのドタバタ劇を繰り広げる人情ギャグ漫画。
