Overview
"Yukio... I'm going to make a friend." A shy boy named Tetsuo. The only thing he had was a giant robot named Yukio. They became "saviors" in the fight against the galactic monsters coming from outer space. After the final battle, Tetsuo returns to Earth for the first time in ten years and witnesses an astonishing world. It's a frozen Earth (named Snowball Earth), where the entire land is covered in snow and ice, being turned into a deadly world! What happened to the human race? 2025年（A.D.2025年）、地球上の生命を殲滅しようと、宇宙から「銀河怪獣」が飛来するようになった。これに対抗して人類は対怪獣戦線「E-RDE（エルデ）」を設立する。科学者・流鏑馬虎鹿は、敵に突貫して自爆する自律稼働爆弾ロボット「スノウマン」を開発したが、スノウマンは「ロボ権侵害」であるとして自爆を拒否していた。 そこへ銀河怪獣が襲来。虎鹿の9歳の息子・流鏑馬鉄男はスノウマンの手動操作コクピットに乗り込み、スノウマンを「ユキオ」と呼んで、ユキオを死なせないと宣言する。鉄男は見事に怪獣を撃破し、以後「救世主」と崇められ、ユキオとともに地球を守り続けた。極度の人見知りである鉄男にとって、ユキオはたった1人の友達だった。 それから10年後、人類は地球から一千光年先で銀河怪獣本隊との最終決戦を迎える。激戦の末に地球へ帰還した鉄男が目にしたのは、全土が雪と氷に覆われ死の世界と化した凍結地球〈スノウボールアース〉だった。ユキオとの「約束」を胸に、鉄男は変わり果てた未知の世界を歩き始める。
