Overview

The year is 2062. Earth has been left in ruin after the failure of a labor automation project when the AI called Artemis waged war against humanity. A girl, Empress, awakens in a research lab. 中学校へ進学した黒衣マトは、クラスメートの小鳥遊ヨミと苗字に興味を持ったことと、お互いに同じ絵本が好きであったことを切っ掛けに親しくなる。だが、彼女はなかなかマトに心を開こうとしない。その原因は、幼馴染の出灰カガリに行動や交友関係を監視・束縛され続けていることにあった。一方、現実世界と異なる「虚の世界（裏世界）」では、ブラック★ロックシューターと何者かの戦いが続いていた。
