平凡な高校生・平賀才人はある日突然、異世界ハルケギニアに召喚されてしまう。才人を召喚したのは、トリステイン魔法学院の生徒でありながら魔法の才能がまるで無い「ゼロのルイズ」こと、ルイズ・フランソワーズ・ル・ブラン・ド・ラ・ヴァリエールだった。人を召喚するという前代未聞の所業を笑われたルイズは、才人を犬扱いと険悪な関係から物語ははじまる。才人の元の世界へ帰りたいという希望と、時がたつにつれて縮まっていくルイズと才人の距離、両立しないそれらの葛藤と、エルフとの対立を中心とした始祖ブリミルの因縁の2つを軸に話は展開される。
