2015年6月4日、札幌市のスープカレー屋「VOYAGER」で働く鼓田ミナレは、職場のラジオから自分の声が流れていることに気づく。その前日、ミナレは偶然知り合った地元のラジオ局「MRS」のディレクター麻藤兼嗣に失恋の愚痴をこぼしていたが、その内容は麻藤によって密録されていたのだった。ミナレは放送を止めるためにMRSに乗り込むが、逆に麻藤に言いくるめられ、ラジオでアドリブトークを披露することになる。その後、ミナレは深夜帯に冠番組を与えられ、VOYAGERで働きつつラジオパーソナリティとしての活動を開始する。ミナレの番組『波よ聞いてくれ』は、麻藤の意向により「回ごとに企画を変える」という方針が採られ、ミナレも自身の失恋から着想を得て制作された架空実況やオーディオドラマ、隣人を訪ねる収録、構成作家の取材旅行に同行してレポートを録音したりと、様々な番組作りに携わっていく。
