出稼ぎのために故郷から町に来た求職中の青年・カウツが、店員募集の張り紙が張られた防具屋をのぞき込むと、そこには何やら怪しげな行いをしている男女2人・ナーデンとリリエッタがいた。2人の話から店が倒産寸前であることや、帳簿から金銭管理があまりにもずさんであることを知ったカウツは、店を立て直すために店員として協力することになる。
