Overview

「ゾンビ的な存在が突如出現、殺害された人間はことごとく同族と化し急速に増殖した結果、社会はほとんど崩壊状態に陥る。わずかに生き残った女子学生たちは学校に立て籠もって寝泊まりし、日々を過ごす」という、ホラー系・サバイバルものによくある設定を用いつつ、キャラクターたちは可愛いらしく、ストーリーは「日常系」ほのぼの漫画のようなテイストで描かれている（特に序盤はその傾向が強い）のが特徴である。原作者の海法によれば、ゾンビ物の作品としてすぐ思い浮かぶような、バトルアクションものとは異なる路線を目指しており、過ぎ去っていく日々を精一杯生きる、登場人物たちの学校生活を描くことが意図されているという。2020年1月時点でシリーズ累計発行部数は280万部を突破している。メディアミックスとして、2015年7月から9月までテレビアニメが放送され、2019年1月25日に実写映画版が公開された。なお、原作漫画版、テレビアニメ版、実写映画版にてそれぞれストーリー展開が異なる。さらに原作完結後、最終回のその後を描く『がっこうぐらし！〜おたより〜』が同誌2020年8月号から2021年10月号まで隔月で連載された。
